These unique t-shirts have been designed by me! An image is centered on the shirt, first drawn in pencil, then waxed with a tjanting tool. Think of the tjanting tool as a mini-funnel attached to a wooden handle that allows the heated wax to slowly seep out, while I move around the fabric. Each shirt is individually waxed, and hand-dyed using a low-emersion technique. This allows the dye to slowly seep in to some areas while colliding with others to create unique color changes and blends. After the dye is set, the shirts are washed, boiled at least twice, then washed twice again with Synthropol. All excess dye is washed out and leaves bright colorfast shades that won't fade with wash or wear. Some of the waxed image remains white, contrasting with these vibrant hues; while others feature overdying.
